When you’re buying a new smartphone, you want to get the most bang for your buck, but that doesn’t always mean you want the best battery.
And sometimes the best phone you can get is just a little bit better than the one you’re using right now.
A new study from iFixit found that some smartphones are still using the same battery cells from the past.
iFixits found that of the 5,100 tested phones, 2,100 had the same batteries from 2014, but there were 5,400 that had the new cell technology that had a smaller battery, while 1,500 had a new cell design that had larger batteries.
The larger batteries make for a faster charge, but they also tend to drain faster, causing overheating.
The new cells, on the other hand, can last longer.
So what do you do if you’re worried about your battery life?
We’ve got the answer for you in this quick guide to how to buy a better smartphone battery.
